GALERIE MARIENBAD presents the work of renowned artist FRANTIŠEK HODONSKÝ in its third exhibition.
František Hodonský is a prominent figure in the visual arts whose work has remained deeply rooted in the landscape of South Moravia throughout his life. It is here that he finds his enduring inspiration—in floodplain forests, waters, wetlands and the shifting energy of nature, which he perceives as a living, constantly changing organism.
Hodonský’s work encompasses painting, printmaking, relief and sculpture. In his paintings, he uses muted earth tones and a rich spectrum of greens. Colour is an essential means through which he sensitively expresses reality. He does not depict the landscape as it is, but as he experiences it. His expressive style, at times approaching geometric abstraction, creates space for personal reflection, emotion and a profound inner experience.
The exhibition also presents reliefs created from printing matrices and sculptures that highlight the artist’s versatility and exceptional spatial vision. Hodonský’s artistic expression also extends into poetry—lyrical poems inspired by his paintings.
