GALERIE MARIENBAD is pleased to announce and warmly invite you to its inaugural exhibition featuring the acclaimed visual artist Václav Malina.
The official opening of the gallery will take place on Friday, May 9 at 5 PM.
The opening exhibition is curated by Alena Mrovcová.
This exhibition is also a tribute to Václav Malina on the occasion of his 75th birthday.
Born in Plzeň, Malina is a remarkable figure in Czech art history — not only as a painter and graphic artist, but also as a writer, gallerist, curator, and respected educator.
As is often said, the only true expert and critic of one’s work is the artist themselves:
“It is not drawing and its subsequent coloring, but painting that defines the relationships between colors. That is the essence of colorism, which cannot be imitated, only understood.”
For Malina, pure sensualism outweighs all deep social, political, or conceptual interpretations combined.
He often emphasizes that nature itself is the best school of painting.
He continues to paint en plein air with great passion, finding in nature a space for both contemplation and dreaming.
