Ivana Lomová: Paintings
26. September 2025 17:00 - 13. January 2026 17:00
Ivana LOMOVÁ is a Czech painter who lives and works in Prague.
After studying architecture, she only briefly devoted herself to her profession.
Her true spirit, however, lay in fine art. She began as an illustrator and author of animated films.
In the mid-1990s, she broke away from illustrations and small-scale drawings, as she passionately embraced classical oil painting on canvas, where she found her true artistic expression.
From the very beginning, she has painted in a realistic style. She works from photographs, which serve only as inspiration for capturing reality, combining them with her own imaginative ideas.
Her paintings are inspired by past experiences, deeply charged with emotion—memories of childhood spent with her sister in the Prague district of Střešovice. In her works, she strives to preserve the magical scent of memories before they are beautified or modernized.
Lomová approaches her art with emotional restraint. The motifs are not spectacular—ordinary things around us. From this often arises a modest use of color. They are essentially quiet paintings that lead us to reflect on the transience of the world… but also to pause in today’s hectic life. Standing before Lomová’s works, we feel that we are addressed by the POWER OF SILENCE.
