After completing her studies at Palacký University in Olomouc and a brief period as a teacher, Alena Mrovcová left for abroad in 1966, where she deepened her knowledge of visual arts.
She visited numerous European museums and eventually encountered original works by great masters – both painters and sculptors.
She became an active part of the international art scene, and her home served as a haven for Czech artists seeking to connect with the Western world.
As a curator, she organized numerous exhibitions across the Federal Republic of Germany.
A major milestone in her career came with a stay in New York, where the idea of founding her own gallery was born. She brought this vision to life after her final return to the Czech Republic in 1993.
In addition to her own gallery, she founded two municipal galleries in Planá, turning the town over the years into a true “Mecca of fine art.”
Alongside curatorial work, she organized sculpture symposia in both the Czech Republic and Germany.
Over the decades, she has built several private art collections, and she donated a significant collection of Czech art to the town of Planá as a gesture of gratitude for being welcomed into the community.
Her commitment to visual art continues to this day, and she spent years pursuing her goal of founding a respected modern art gallery in Mariánské Lázně.
That dream came true only this year, when she found enthusiastic collaborators who helped her find the perfect space for the gallery.
